ABOUT US
With Screech Owl Farm School, Cecelia Carver "CC" (Director) fulfills a promise she made to herself that one day she would again live in a rural community like the one she left as a child. In this place, people who love their farm can remain there, living and learning in harmony with the land. Having lived in both rural and urban cultures, she defines her offering as bridging these worlds, and in doing so, helping to support family farms and her rural community. While in graduate school at UNC, Cecelia headed south into Chatham County. Crossing the Haw River for the first time, she knew there was something special about Chatham; this place will pull you in. She says, "I belong here." In Chatham she found a community of individuals living rural lifestyles, and committed to their place. It was time to get going on that sustaining dream. Cecelia was among the first 100 Certified Environmental Educators in North Carolina.

The dream is simple: People come together to share their expertise and skills in a rural setting. Through learning, we realize our abilities. In the rural setting, we connect with the land and, encouraged by our experience, we are less willing to let it go.
Listed in the directory of North Carolina Environmental Education Centers, Screech Owl Farm School offers a broad curriculum in the field of Farm Ecology.
